The OHA PAC serves as the unified voice of hospitals in Oklahoma by strategically investing in candidates who support the mission, vision, and values of our members, patients, caregivers, and the communities served. Working together, hospital and health system leaders and employees can help elect lawmakers who will guide policy conversations that advance our values of providing high-quality, affordable healthcare that positively impacts the health of Oklahomans and Americans.

Robust debate over healthcare policy will never cease. Supporting OHA PAC is one way you can be sure that Oklahoma hospitals will have a meaningful voice in the outcome of these critical healthcare issues.

The OHA PAC serves as the unified voice of hospitals in Oklahoma by strategically investing in candidates who support the mission, vision, and values of our members, patients, caregivers, and the communities served. Working together, hospital and health system leaders and employees can help elect lawmakers who will guide policy conversations that advance our values of providing high-quality, affordable health care that positively impacts the health of Oklahomans and Americans.

Legislators are making decisions that have a direct impact on hospitals, and they want and need to hear from you. Unfortunately, we must compete with the voices of others who don’t share our mission, vision, and values. If we don’t amplify hospital voices through OHA PAC, other voices will dominate.

Our unity as a field is the key to making our advocacy successful. We have accomplished much together and our pathway to further success on the advocacy front is our ability to support candidates who share our mission, vision, and values for healthcare. OHA does this through OHA PAC. As a field, we must recognize those who have supported hospitals in the past and have committed to do so in the future. From Medicaid expansion to directed payments that will yield additional support for hospitals, we must respond in appreciation to lawmakers who stood in the gap for OHA members.

Contributing to OHA PAC isn’t just good for our healthcare field, it also comes with recognition on ohapac.com by Club Level (contribution amount) AND on signs at the OHA Connect conference!

Plus: each contribution helps your hospital and system get closer to the 2025 goal of $5 per bed (plus $2,000 for systems) and receiving recognition at OHA Connect.

But wait: OHA PAC presents two awards every year at Connect:

  • Hospital or System that raises the highest amount per capita
  • Hospital or System that raises the most money overall

There’s more: OHA and The American Hospital Association also offers the below incentives for contributors who do not direct their contributions to stay only in Oklahoma.

Federal campaign finance laws require OHA PAC contributors to be OHA member hospitals’ boards of directors, trustees, executives, administrative personnel, shareholders, and their families. Physicians and physician assistants may contribute to OHA PAC if they are 100% employed by the hospital.

Executive and administrative personnel who can be solicited include full-time, salaried employees of OHA member hospitals, health systems, and clinics with policymaking, managerial, professional, or supervisory responsibilities. Hourly employees are not included in the solicitable class and may not be solicited at any time.

Contributing to OHA PAC must be voluntary and with personal financial resources. Contributions cannot impact the contributor’s job status, performance review, compensation, or employment. Any amount contributed or the decision not to contribute cannot advantage or disadvantage the employee.

Oklahoma ethics laws prohibit corporations from contributing to political campaigns and PACs – all contributions MUST be from personal finances.

Hospital goals are determined by bed size, not previous performance.

The 2025 hospital goals are:

  • $5 per licensed bed.
  • Hospitals within a system are grouped with a total goal of the sum of each hospital’s goal, plus an additional $2,000.

There is no minimum contribution to OHA PAC. All contributions are valuable and appreciated.

The maximum contribution to OHA PAC per calendar year is $5,000 per individual.

Suggested Contribution Levels:

  • System Leadership: $5,000
  • C-Suite, large hospital: $2,500
  • C-Suite, small hospital: $1,000
  • Large Hospital Leadership: $500
  • Small Hospital Leadership: $350

Yes! Contributions to OHA PAC may be made in one payment or on a monthly payment plan. The contributor may select his/her preference during the contribution process or contact OHA Government Relations for more information.

Federal law requires us to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and name of employer of all contributors. Since the contribution is from an individual and not a corporation, the individual’s home address must be reported.

OHA PAC:

  • The OHA PAC Board of Trustees uses political action dollars strategically and intentionally to elect Oklahoma state legislative candidates who demonstrate support for the hospital field and understand Oklahoma hospitals’ concerns.
  • OHA PAC contributes to state legislative candidates only (Oklahoma House and Senate).

AHAPAC:

  • OHA provides input to AHA’s PAC Steering Committee for candidate contributions. AHAPAC contributes to federal legislative candidates who have a current race and have been previously supportive of hospital issues. AHAPAC does not give to presidential candidates.
  • OHA PAC and AHAPAC are bipartisan. Both PACs contribute to campaigns to show appreciation for our legislative champions, regardless of party.
  • Contributing to OHA PAC and AHAPAC is not a charity donation. Contributions are an investment in the hospital field and the future of healthcare. Contributions are not tax deductible.
  • One hundred percent of OHA PAC and AHAPAC contributions support candidates. None of the contributions are used for staff salaries, overhead, or lobbying expenses.

OHA PAC is a collecting agent for AHAPAC. Fifty percent of the funds raised are sent to AHA for disbursement to federal congressional and Senate candidates unless the contributor marks the opt-out box at the time of contribution. Each shared contribution helps OHA reach our goal set by AHA and compete against other state hospital associations.
